When Hearts Whispers
Episode 1: The Girl by the Lake
It was a quiet Saturday afternoon in the small town of Nyamugari. The sun was warm but soft, and birds were singing gently. In this peaceful town, not far from a wide sparkling lake, lived a boy named Kevin. He was 23, tall, quiet, and kind. He loved reading books, helping his mother in the small shop, and walking alone near the lake.
Kevin didn’t believe in love. He thought it only happened in movies or stories. His heart had never beaten fast for anyone before. But everything was about to change.
That afternoon, Kevin walked to the lake with a book in his hand. He always sat under a big tree where the wind touched his face, and he could hear the water dancing. But this time, he saw something different.
There, sitting on the rock near the water, was a girl. She had short curly hair, a yellow dress, and bare feet. She was looking at the lake, quietly. Kevin had never seen her before. Something about her made his heart skip a beat.
He walked slowly, trying not to disturb her. But she turned her head and smiled.
“Hi,” she said softly.
Kevin smiled back. “Hi. I didn’t expect anyone else here.”
“I like quiet places,” she said. “They help me think.”
Kevin nodded. “Me too.”
They didn’t talk much, but something between them felt special. Her name was Aline. She had just moved to Nyamugari to live with her aunt after finishing school in Kigali. She loved drawing and writing poems.
Kevin and Aline sat together for an hour, watching the lake and talking a little. It was simple. But when Kevin went home that evening, he couldn’t stop thinking about her smile, her voice, and the way the wind played with her hair.
That night, he didn’t read his book. He just stared at the stars from his window and whispered to himself, “Who is this girl?”
He didn’t know that Aline, too, was thinking about him. She had never talked with a boy so calmly, without pretending. She had felt safe.
The next day, Kevin walked to the lake again. And Aline was there.
This was how a story began not with flowers, not with music, but with two quiet hearts meeting by the water.
